The newly constructed $152 million Zeelugt Primary School in Region Three has been officially commissioned, marking a significant step in enhancing the educational infrastructure in the area.

The state-of-the-art facility includes 15 classrooms, along with amenities such as a computer center, conference room, theatre, and kitchen, and is designed to accommodate over 600 students.

President Dr. Irfaan Ali, speaking at the commissioning ceremony, highlighted his government’s dedication to building well-equipped educational institutions nationwide.

He emphasized that over 150 new educational facilities are currently under construction, underscoring the administration’s commitment to advancing education standards across the country.

The President also noted the government’s efforts to improve existing schools by providing resources for renovations, including repainting, upgrading washrooms, fixing roofs, and enhancing drainage systems.

He further announced plans to install multi-surface tarmacs at every school to support various activities.

Education Minister Priya Manickchand, in her address, outlined the ongoing development of educational infrastructure in Region Three, noting that one new nursery school and five primary schools have already been completed.

Additionally, three secondary schools are being built in Tushen, Vreed-en-Hoop-Crane, and Nismes.

The commissioning of Zeelugt Primary fulfills a commitment made by the Minister in 2021.

Since taking office, the PPP Administration has constructed 42 nursery schools, 18 primary schools, and is working on 26 secondary schools across the country.
