11th Pee Wee Football Tournament Kicks Off

The 11th edition of the Courts Optical Pee Wee Under-11 Football Tournament commenced over the weekend at the Ministry of Education Ground on Carifesta Avenue.

During the opening ceremony, Director of the Petra Organization, Troy Mendonca, encouraged the young players to prioritize their education while fostering friendships with their teammates.

He emphasized that the success of the tournament relies on collaboration with the Ministries of Education and Culture, Youth and Sport, as well as sponsors such as Stenna Drilling, Sterling Products, and title sponsor Courts Optical.

Deputy Chief Education Officer, Marti De Souza, expressed satisfaction with the tournament’s extensive outreach and anticipated a highly competitive event.

Ricardo Semple, Brand Manager for Courts Optical, conveyed the brand’s gratitude for the opportunity to support such remarkable young talent.

The ceremonial kickoff was performed by Sales Director Malissa Sylvester on behalf of the sponsors.

In the opening matches, Potaro defeated Redeemer Primary 2-0, while Marian Academy triumphed over Georgetown International Academy with a score of 2-1.

Other winners from the day included St. John the Baptist, Rosignal, Belladrum, St. Pius, Ann’s Grove, and Enterprise Primary Schools.

The tournament promises to showcase the skills of young footballers and foster a love for the game, setting a positive example for sportsmanship and community spirit.
