In a significant step towards land ownership, 115 allottees from Plantation Fitz Hope in Amelia’s Ward, Linden, have signed agreements of sale with the Ministry of Housing and Water’s Central Housing and Planning Authority.

The signing ceremony took place at the Watooka Guest House.

The Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) initiated the processing of agreements of sale for these allottees out of a total of 487 lots allocated in the area.

CEO of CH&PA, Sherwyn Greaves, highlighted the importance of this stage, which grants legal ownership of land to beneficiaries and paves the way for them to obtain Certificates of Title, enabling access to financing for home construction from banks.

Allottees who are yet to complete payments for their lots can finalize the process at the local CH&PA office in Crabwood Street, McKenzie.

The Ministry of Housing has invested approximately 1.1 billion dollars in infrastructure development, including roads and utilities, in Plantation Fitz Hope and Wisroc since 2020, according to Greaves.

Furthermore, 28 individuals in Linden will soon begin construction with the assistance of steel and cement subsidies provided by CH&PA.

Each subsidy voucher, valued at $225,000, aims to support citizens in building their homes and stimulate economic activity in the region.

Those who have signed their agreements of sale will also have the opportunity to apply for the steel and cement subsidy to kickstart their construction projects.
