In a significant milestone, 112 individuals have successfully completed their training programs offered by the Board of Industrial Training (BIT) at the Herstelling Assembly of God, Global Outreach Centre.
This diverse group of graduates included 10 males and 102 females, who were recognized for their accomplishments in various fields including Floral Designs and Events Decor, Information Technology and Office Administration, Commercial Food Preparation, and Automotive Electrical Level One.
The collaboration between the Global Outreach Centre and BIT, which began in 2009, has been instrumental in equipping young professionals with essential skills.
To date, over a thousand individuals have benefited from this partnership, highlighting its impact on career development and skills enhancement in the community.
At the graduation ceremony, Richard Maughn, CEO of BIT, delivered an encouraging message to the graduates.
He emphasized the importance of leveraging their new skills and not merely settling for the certificate they received.
“We want to encourage you not to give up and not to be content with the certificate you are receiving today,” Maughn said.
“Allow that certificate to work for you and the skills you have acquired to take you places.”
Labour Minister Joseph Hamilton also addressed the graduates, underscoring the importance of continuous learning and skill diversification.
He emphasized that in today’s competitive world, being multi-skilled and adaptable is crucial.
“You have to be multi-skilled and multi-talented to face this world,” Hamilton stated.
“When one door is closed, you should have another skillset ready to enter a new opportunity. That is why BIT allows for repeated training and skill development.”
Since 2020, the Board of Industrial Training has trained over 12,000 people across Guyana, with approximately 46% of those trained being women.
This statistic reflects BIT’s commitment to empowering individuals across the country with valuable skills and knowledge.
The recent graduation marks a significant achievement for both the graduates and the Board of Industrial Training, reinforcing the value of vocational education and ongoing professional development.
