The eagerly anticipated tenth edition of the Milo Schools Football Tournament is scheduled to commence on February 18, promising an exciting showcase of talent from some of the top student athletes in the country.
Organized by the Petra organization, the tournament marks the beginning of their 2024 season of events and will feature matches played at both the Ministry of Education and the National Insurance Scheme grounds on Carifesta Avenue.
Troy Mendonca, Co-director of the Petra organization, expressed gratitude to the Massy Group, particularly through their Nestle Milo brand, for their steadfast support over the years.
He emphasized the organizers’ commitment to providing players with ample opportunities to advance their careers in football.
In a statement, Teisha Milner, Senior Business Manager for Nestle, highlighted the company’s dedication to youth development, stating that their support for the tournament aligns with their mandate to contribute to the growth of young talents.
Dion Inniss, representing the Guyana Football Federation, commended the organizers for their efforts in promoting football at the grassroots level, emphasizing the potential long-term impact of such initiatives on the sport in the country.
More than 20 schools have already expressed their intention to participate in the tournament, underscoring the widespread enthusiasm and anticipation surrounding the event.
