$100M Riverfront Development Project Launched in Linden

November 23, 2024

The Wismar shore of Linden’s Riverfront is set to undergo a major transformation as the government rolls out a $100 million development project.

Eight local contractors have been awarded contracts to execute beautification and enhancement works as part of this initiative.

Minister of Public Works Juan Edghill emphasized the significance of the project, which aims to uplift the community through improved waterfront aesthetics and infrastructure.

Seven additional contractors, who were not selected for this phase, will be engaged in upcoming projects focused on smaller-scale improvements to the waterfront.

Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips reaffirmed the government’s commitment to equitable development, ensuring that all regions benefit from national programs and projects.

In response to a request from the Toshaos of Malali and Muritaro, the project will also include the construction of a landing dock, providing easier access to the Linden Hospital Complex from the riverside.

This riverfront upgrade is part of the government’s broader agenda to foster economic growth, improve community spaces, and promote local development in Linden and other parts of Guyana.
