The Ministry of Labour, in partnership with the Board of Industrial Training and COURSERA, has initiated a free skill training program benefiting 1,000 Guyanese citizens.

The program aims to significantly enhance the quality of technical skills training in Guyana, as highlighted by Minister of Labour Joseph Hamilton.

Minister Hamilton stressed the shift towards prioritizing quality over quantity in vocational training, emphasizing the need for innovation to meet current labor market demands effectively.

According to Minister Hamilton, the initiative is designed not only to acquire skills but also to use them effectively to boost efficiency and productivity across various sectors.

CEO Richard Maughn encouraged program participants to make full use of the opportunity by completing their online courses.

He noted additional benefits for those who complete mandatory training courses, including access to supplementary programs tailored to their specific fields.

The partnership with COURSERA reflects Guyana’s broader commitment to enhancing human capital development and supporting economic growth through targeted skills training initiatives.

Participants are urged to apply their newly acquired licenses and continue learning to advance their careers and contribute effectively to Guyana’s workforce.

As the Ministry of Labour continues to foster partnerships and expand training opportunities, initiatives like the COURSERA program play a crucial role in equipping Guyanese citizens with the skills needed to succeed in today’s competitive job market.
