Guyana assured of a safe transfer to bio technology – Environmental resource minister Robert Persuad

Environment and natural resource minister Robert Persaud says as Guyana moves to a diversified economy, bio-technology must see a safe transfer into industries.
Minister Persaud stated that preparation must also be made for its full utilization in the oil and other emerging sectors.
Minister Persaud said already some institutions are doing their part and urges others to become aware as government steps up regulatory mechanisms.
The minister, however cautioned that Guyana be careful not to allow the technology to negatively impact the environment and biodiversity.
Mr. Persaud made these pronouncements at a workshop which seek to advance a central on line clearing house to make Guyana more competitive.
