The Ministry of culture youth and sport denies any allegations of the locks placed on the doors of the GCB

The ministry of culture youth and sport is clearing the air regarding the locks placed on the door of the Guyana cricket board’s office.

According to some sections of the media, the government of Guyana was responsible for new locks on the cricket board’s main office which kept operations officer robin Singh in captivity for the latter part of the morning.

Speaking to this newscast last evening, the permanent secretary of the sport ministry Alfread King stated that they had nothing to do with the locks

In fact, he added that they aided in the removal of their original locks in keeping with the writ that was issued to them earlier in the week

The Guyana cricket board’s office was again yesterday padlocked by an unknown person or group of person. The locking of the Boards office yesterday resulted in the captivity of the operations officer for the latter part of the morning

Meanwhile home affairs minister Clement Rohee is disappointed at the court order granted, which gave the permanent secretary of the sport ministry, Alfred king 24 hours to remove the locks placed on the Guyana cricket board’s (GCB’S) office.

The order granted, by justice William Ramlal on February was suspended some time later in the afternoon after the local board members had gained entry to the building.

According to minister Rohee, this move could compromise the investigation that was launched by the Guyana police force (GPF) into the affairs of the board, since it allowed members access to the records.

There is a general belief, according to the minister that there are inconsistencies in the board’s finances.

It was cited that if these rumored financial fall outs are found then persons may be charged with criminal offences and put before the court of law. The courts of Guyana forced the governments hand to launch an investigation into the sport as it relates to management at the highest level.
